Milford Elementary Fourth Graders celebrated National Fourth Graders Day this week! Students created crowns to wear in class that demonstrated their creativity and pride in themselves and our school. As part of their Language Arts classes, they learned that the Latin roots quar/ quad mean four. We talked about how there are 4 quarts in a gallon and 4 quarters in a dollar. Students learned about the Milford Public Schools Foundation Scholarships and were excited to learn that each one of them will be able to receive a scholarship by applying during their Senior year. We had a quarter drive and then sorted those quarters into stacks of 4 to count our collection. To wrap up this activity, Mr. Wingard, Dr. Kubicek and Mrs. Hartman were invited to our classroom for a special presentation. Student council representatives from each classroom gave a short speech and presented the collection of quarters to them to be added to the Foundation Scholarship Fund. Students were so excited to be investing in themselves and their future academic endeavors. A total of $158.25 was raised for the scholarship fund. We are so proud of these students and appreciate the help and generosity of their families.
