Milford Elementary Fourth Graders celebrated National Fourth Graders Day this week! Students created crowns to wear in class that demonstrated their creativity and pride in themselves and our school. As part of their Language Arts classes, they learned that the Latin roots quar/ quad mean four. We talked about how there are 4 quarts in a gallon and 4 quarters in a dollar. Students learned about the Milford Public Schools Foundation Scholarships and were excited to learn that each one of them will be able to receive a scholarship by applying during their Senior year. We had a quarter drive and then sorted those quarters into stacks of 4 to count our collection. To wrap up this activity, Mr. Wingard, Dr. Kubicek and Mrs. Hartman were invited to our classroom for a special presentation. Student council representatives from each classroom gave a short speech and presented the collection of quarters to them to be added to the Foundation Scholarship Fund. Students were so excited to be investing in themselves and their future academic endeavors. A total of $158.25 was raised for the scholarship fund. We are so proud of these students and appreciate the help and generosity of their families.

Drive safe--Freezing fog has caused parking lots and sidewalks to be slick. Many streets in town are slick. Highways and gravel roads are normal winter driving condition. Be careful in town, in parking lots, and walking to school as these areas are slick. Be safe.

Milford Elementary School recently held its annual Turkey Trot Race. We would like to extend a big congratulations to all of the winners! The Turkey Trot is an exciting event that brings together students and staff to celebrate physical fitness, community, and fun. This year's race was a great success, and we are so proud of all the participants for their hard work and dedication even on the cold chilly day! We collected well over 1200 non-perishable food items this year that were donated to the Milford Food Pantry. Thank you to our families for your support!
