Milford High School students, Lyla Policky and Hattie Michaelis, presented a lesson on sportsmanship to 4th graders as part of their FCCLA project. They were reminded to show good sportsmanship at school and outside events. They learned ways to make games enjoyable for everyone, such as cheering, encouraging others, shaking hands, or giving high fives to their opponents. Students played several rounds of a head, shoulders, knees, and cone game along with Ultimate Rock, Paper Scissors, to practice the skills they learned. Thank you, Lyla and Hattie! We had so much fun, and we promise to be good sports.

Here are the planned activities for November 24-29. We hope everyone has a peaceful, restful, and wonderful Thanksgiving day and break.

Art students loved seeing the new edition and viewing the collection at the Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha on Friday, November 14. They were also able to learn about the lost wax process and glassblowing while visiting with artists at Hot Shops.

Here are the planned activities for November 17-22. Have a great week!

The MHS Veterans Day Program was hosted on Nov. 11th at 11:00 AM.
The Student Body President, Garrett Schoen, was the emcee who announced the Posting of Colors by the American Legion Post #171 and the
National Anthem was sung by the MHS 7-12 Milford Vocal Ensemble,
under the direction of Mr. Sean Nutzman.
We then honored our veterans in attendance, a special alum veteran,
Zac Compton, veteran families, and HS students considering military service. Mayor Patrick Kelley shared the Milford Veterans Day Proclamation, which was followed by our keynote speaker, Mr. Ken Reinsch, sharing his military career experiences, his 'why' to joining the military, and giving tribute to the sacrifices of our veterans and their families.
The program was concluded with a Quilt of Valor presentation by our
Family and Consumer Science teacher, Mrs. Zegers and her JH students.
The quilt was a surprise to Herb Greenwade, as his family helped to drape
the quilt around him in honor of his service. A moment of silence followed
as the 'taps' were presented by Avery Carter and Jonny Kohout, concluded
with the Retirement of Colors by the American Legion Post #171.

Several MHS students had a great experience at SCC Milford for their SCC Automotive, Autobody, & Powersports Day. Students were exposed to a variety of hands-on experiences, received up close views of automotive technology and simulators, and learned about career opportunities and advice from a student panel. This day is a part of the SCC Explore It Days offered throughout the year for area high school students.
Thank you to SCC for offering such a beneficial experience!

Milford High School sophomores attended Connecting the Dots on October 29 at the Seward County Fairgrounds. The Seward Nebraska Extension Office coordinated with area business leaders to host career simulation interactions. Students completed a career exploration activity and worked in teams of two or three based on career interest. Through the Connecting the Dots program, students:
• Experienced a real-life simulation to learn how high school choices impact post-secondary choices and workplace opportunities.
• Learned more about their favorite careers.
• Learned about the importance of networking as they begin to prepare for their careers.
• Completed personality inventories to relate to future employment.
• Had fun learning together.

Calling all Milford Show Choir/Swing Choir Alumni!
The Show Choir will be performing the beautiful song Breath of Heaven for the Winter Concert on Thursday, December 18, at 7:00 PM. They selected the song with the intent of inviting past members of the group to join them on stage for the performance. We have many singers close to home and abroad, and we would love to have them join us on the stage for this song.
Help us spread the word and fill the stage with the love of family, Christmas, alma mater, and singing.
For all the details and rehearsal tracks, and to be included in the experience, email sean.nutzman@milfordps.org.

Mrs.Volkmer’s after-school club has officially begun their adventures around the world!
Our first stop: Japan! Students earned their first passport stamp and discovered so many fascinating things about this beautiful country; from its cherry blossom trees and tea ceremonies, to the way Japanese students help clean their schools each day. We also learned that cherry blossoms symbolize new beginnings, and that Japan shared this special gift with the United States over 100 years ago when they sent thousands of trees to Washington, D.C.
Students wrapped up the day by creating their own cherry blossom tree art, which turned out beautifully!
Next week, we’re heading to Mexico to explore its vibrant culture and make our own piñatas. The excitement is already building!
