Upcoming 50th Class Reunion

September 05, 2018

Some classmates from the Class of 1969, met on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at Diane Rolfsmeyer's home on her farm near Milford, NE.  We gathered at 10:00.  Those present were Diane Rolfsmeyer & Nick Partsch, Wilma Miller, Bob and Linda Brunz, Dave & Sue Roth, Shirley Koehler, Peg Burkey, Tim & Connie Stauffer, Linda Zimblemann, Rita Douglass, and Glenda Maury.

We enjoyed a carry in brunch and conducted business before we ate.  We looked at previous minutes that had been recorded  by Diane, on 9/30/2017, and reminisced about our visit on July 26, at Glenda's  in Hesston, KS.

We would like to have a work group meeting on September 8, 2018, at 9:30 a.m. at 2800 Porter Ridge, Lincoln, NE, Those who said they could come are Diane, Bob, and Connie.  Others should feel welcome to come or be involved as well. Connie will work at collecting contact information. If you have phone numbers or addresses or are on face book with classmates, please let us know,  by calling (402) 440-3879   or by e-mailing  lemartstauffer@gmail.com.   The group will organize  a "Save the Date" invitation which will then go out to as many of the Class of '69, that we can find.

Here are the plans for the '69 Reunion on June 8 and 9, 2019. Our activities will begin on the morning of June 8.  Some suggested having those who wanted to go golfing at Thornridge.  We will have to canvas/survey to see if some want to do this.   Then mid- morning of June 8, at 10:00, those who desire to, hopefully can take a tour of Milford Jr. Sr. High School.  Peg Burkey will schedule the tour with Superintendent, Kevin Wingard.  She will also check to see if we can use a school bus to tour the town.  Shirley Koehler will check with her husband, Rich, a licensed bus driver, to see if he will drive the bus.  We would like a microphone so everyone can hear as we drive.  The  bus tour will begin at 11:00.  Peg will make lunch reservations at the Pizza Kitchen for 12:00.

We would like to ask Clark & Bonnie Rediger if they would contact  some previous teachers and others that worked at school. (for example:  teacher: Mr. Huss, cook: Mrs. Brunz; do some of you have some more good suggestions?)

We will hang out at Pizza Kitchen for a while  enjoying time together in Roger's back room  and then go out to Brunz' at Crete.   Bob Brunz and Dave Roth will organize the Saturday evening meal. Dave & Sue were going to  ask Tony & Shelly Houk if they would be interested in doing a BBQ for approximately 40-60 people (depending on the RSVPs to the event) and get price information.  Tony and Shelly are local Milfordites.  Even though we discussed other venues, we thought it would be nice if we could have a local business prepare our dinner.

Rita, Peg and Connie will make  fans with individualized pictures of our classmates,  using  annual photos.  They will also make name tags.  The date for doing this has not been set.

We would like to ask Chuck Wergin to make a video presentation for our class.  All classmates would be asked to get information in for this.  A suggested dollar amount and deadline will have to be sent out so that it will cover all of the activities that each chooses to to participate in.

Saturday evening activities will be at Bob and Linda Brunz at 16550 SW 142, Crete, NE 68333. His phone number 402-616-7670.  Participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs if you are from the area.  Those coming from a distance are not asked to bring chairs for the evening.  Dress will be casual.  If any of the classmates are' RV-ing their way' to our reunion, Bob Brunz has offered his place to park.  He has four spots with electrical hook ups.  He and Linda really have a lovely acreage home and quonset building which we will be using which has lots of room.  Bob offered to share  60's music as a background.  The date of our reunion was chosen to be easy to remember 6-9.  To make this work since the 9th is on Sunday, there were a couple of ideas.  The most spectacular would be a closing of fireworks at Bob's ending just after midnight.  We would make a plan for all  to chip in for that cost.

On Sunday afternoon June 9th (6-9)  Dave Roth thought he could check into a tour for our group of the UNL stadium.  Diane R.  extended an invitation to her home for fun and fellowship after that,  if the tour can be worked out and if people would be interested.

These minutes will be mailed to those who have e-mails and also put on our facebook page at Milford Senior Class of 1969.  Glenda also will ask the school if they can put these minutes on the alumni page for Milford Public Schools, for those classmates who may not have received them but might see them there.

After our reunion next year, we would like a follow up/wrap-up meeting and then why limit it to one more get-together?  We may wish to keep in contact on a more regular basis.

Stay tuned for more information.

If anyone has questions, they may respond to these minutes or to Connie (enclosed e-mail address above) or Bob (enclosed contact information above).

Respectfully submitted,

Glenda Roth Maury
