Fourth Grade Heritage School Experience
Milford 4th graders were able to experience what a school day was like in 1892 when they visited the Heritage School in Pioneers Park on March 7th and 8th. Students had the opportunity to churn real butter, write with a quill & ink, and grind corn. They also wrote spelling words on slates and ate a pioneer meal out of a tin lunch pail. After recess, the students came in to participate in a spelling bee. The day ended with reciting poems and working arithmetic problems on the board. Although the students enjoyed the day, most of them decided they're pretty lucky to be going to school in 2017!
