Milford FFA Competes at District Leadership Skills Events
On January 11, 2012, thirteen members of the Milford FFA traveled to Aurora Nebraska to compete in the district 5 Leadership Skills Events. All of the students worked really hard to prepare for the contest and did very well considering most of them were competing in FFA speaking contests for the first time.
The day’s results were highlighted by a pair of freshman, Lydia Jeppesen and Sami Vaverka, who both received purple ribbons in a highly competitive field of FFA Creed speakers. Sami was selected as the overall district 5 champion creed speaker and will represent the Milford FFA at the state FFA convention in late March.
Alex Hauder took on the challenge of preparing a speech in just 30 minutes by competing in the Extemporaneous Speaking contest where he received a red ribbon.
Jayden Roth also received a red ribbon in the Natural Resources speaking contest, where he spoke about how the high price of hay was affecting the daily operation at our nation’s zoos.
Our rookie senior Parliamentary Procedure team also did well for their first time competing in this event. The team received a red ribbon and was made up of Sharon Skutchan, Morgan McNally, Austin Shook, Micah Carsten, Ashley Navratil, Tyler Ross, Madison Millikan, Mekenna Wingard, and Jill Olson.
Congratulation to all the members who competed.
