MILFORD PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT #5
REGULAR BOARD MEETING
April 14, 2008

President Welsch called the regular meeting of the Board of Education to order.
Administration: Kevin Wingard, Superintendent, T.J. Meyer, Secondary Principal, Penny Jans, Elementary Principal, Mark Olson, Curriculum Coordinator.
Roll Call: Present - Dave Welsch, Jim Stahly, Karen Stauffer, Tony Roth, Larry Lindquist. Absent - John Aden
Guests: Nancy Swarts, Shirley Heckman, Wendy Drew.
President Welsch drew attention to the Nebraska open meeting law.
Approved minutes from the March 8 regular meeting and the April 7 Board Retreat.
Approved April expenditures - General Fund - $483,020.18; Employee Benefit - $360: Building Fund - $4,952.26.
Mrs. Jans gave a report on upcoming events for elementary students.
Mr. Meyer reminded board members of graduation on May 10 and reported on upcoming scheduled events
Mr. Wingard gave an updated legislative report, reported on the April Teammates fundraiser. The JH jazz band gave an excellent performance before Burnt Bisketts presented their musical program. Teammates will be locally sponsored with Kiwanis supporting this change. He also reported on NSAA changes.
Reviewed student enrollment numbers and progress on building project.
Approved dates for summer school - Secondary will be May 27 -30th, June 2-5 and 9-12 from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon. There will be a $125 cost for secondary summer school.
Elementary will be July 21-25 from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.
Accepted the resignation of Jody Greisen and Sandra Meisman with thanks for their years with the students at Milford Public Schools.
Approved contract with Christine Jeppesen for elementary music teacher.
Delayed vote on NASB ballot for Legislative Committee member.
Adjourned regular session.
