MILFORD PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT #5
REGULAR BOARD MEETING
December 10, 2007

President Welsch called the regular meeting of the Board of Education to order.
Administration: Kevin Wingard, Superintendent, T.J. Meyer, Secondary Principal, Penny Jans, Elementary Principal, Mark Olson, Curriculum Coordinator.
Roll Call: Present – Dave Welsch, John Aden, Larry Lindquist, Jim Stahly, Karen Stauffer, Tony Roth.
Guests: Nancy Swarts, Shirley Heckman, Deb Welsch, Doris Aden.
President Welsch drew attention to the Nebraska open meeting law posted on the wall.
Public Comments: None
Approved minutes from the November 12 meeting.
Approved December expenditures – General Fund - $437,615.16; Employee Benefit - $360; Building Fund - $11.50
Mr. Olson touched on becoming a Functioning Professional Learning Community. Teachers meet to discuss academic achievements for each student.
Mr. Wingard reported on receiving a $5000 CSPD grant, legislative review, complimented Brad Rediger for his NASB nomination to the Believers and Achievers, and the One Act team for 4th place in the state competition. The NASB labor relation’s conference will be in February. Tony, Larry, and Dave reported on workshops they attended at NASB conference. Mr. Wingard expressed appreciation for the leadership during the time a Milford student was injured.
John Aden announced he does not plan to run for another term on the school board.
There has been some work done on the building project, but there have been weather related delays.
Policy Review – Changes that were recommended by the policy committee are being made.
Reviewed a rough draft of the 2008-09 school calendar.
Moved to executive session for the purpose of discussing matters of student discipline. Executive session is necessary for the prevention of needless injury to the reputation of an individual.
Returned to regular session
Adjourned regular session.
