Applicable Allowable Growth Rate + 1% Hearing


Board President, Dave Welsch called the applicable allowable growth + 1% meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

President Welsch brought attention to the open meeting law posted on the board.

Roll: Present-Karen Stauffer, Dave Welsch, Larry Lindquist, Jim Stahly, John Aden, Tony Roth.

Administration: Kevin Wingard, Superintendent, T.J. Meyer, Secondary Principal, Penny Jans, Elementary Principal, Mark Olson, Curriculum Coordinator.

Public Comments: None

President Welsch closed the applicable allowable growth + 1% meeting.

Regular Meeting of the Board of Education

Board President, Dave Welsch, called the regular session of the Board of Education, School District #80-0005, Seward County, to order at 7:30 P.M.

President Welsch brought attention to the open meeting law posted on the board.

Administration: Kevin Wingard, Superintendent, T.J. Meyer, Secondary Principal, Penny Jans, Elementary Principal, Mark Olson, Curriculum Coordinator.

Roll: Present - Karen Stauffer, Dave Welsch, Larry Lindquist, Jim Stahly, John Aden, Tony Roth.

Guests: Shirley Heckman, Nancy Swarts.

Public Comments: None.

Approved the minutes from the July 9 regular meeting.

Approved the August expenditures – General – $486,788.10, Employee Benefit - $350.

Mr. Wingard reminded the board of the employee meetings on August 14 and 15. September 10 will be the budget and tax request hearing. There are 387 students in the high school and 353 in the elementary school.

Reviewed transportation report.

Reviewed the bid process for the building project.

Approved applicable growth rate -3.3702%+1% = 4.3702% or $311,004.71.

Approved milk bid from Meadow Gold Dairy for the 2007-08 school year.

Approved the contract with Peggy Oborny as SPED in Pleasant Dale. She will also provide P.E., Music, and Media.

Set August 27 for special meeting to finalize the August expenditures.

Entered executive session for the protection of the public interest and prevention of needless injury to the reputation of an individual to discuss negotiations and personnel issue.

Returned to regular session.

Approved 2007-08 negotiated agreement with the Milford Education Association.

Meeting adjourned.
