MILFORD PUBLIC SCHOOLS DISTRICT#5
May 14, 2007

Board President, Dave Welsch, called the regular session of the Board of Education, School District #80-0005, Seward County, to order at 7:30 P.M.

President Welsch brought attention to the open meeting law posted on the board.

Administration: Kevin Wingard, Superintendent, T.J. Meyer, Secondary Principal, Penny Jans, Elementary Principal, Mark Olson, Curriculum Coordinator.

Roll: Present – Tony Roth, Karen Stauffer, Dave Welsch, Larry Lindquist, Jim Stahly, John Aden.

Guests: Chuck Wergin, Emily Schaben, Ariel Weyers, Cheryl Meyer, Marcia Redler, Jordan Redler, Bob Redler, Leroy Trease.

Public Comments: None.

Heard presentation from the FCCLA group who will be attending the convention in Anaheim, July 9.

Approved the minutes from the April 9 regular meeting.

Approved the May expenditures – General – $431,239.42; Employee Benefit - $350.

Principals and Curriculum Coordinator Reports: Mr. Meyer noted the Junior High honors program will be held during the day.

Mrs. Jans expressed her appreciation to staff and students for the various projects they worked on and donating $5000 to the Kiwanis park project.

Mark Olson reported on the positive statewide writing results.

Mr. Wingard commented on the letter from the tour guide for the New York City trip complimenting the students on the awesome behavior while on the trip. The letter is on the website. The law seminar will be held in Kearney June 6-8.

Dave Welsch, Karen Stauffer and Jim Stahly were selected to be on the transportation committee.

Approved the teacher contracts for Marta Madsen – fourth and fifth grade in Pleasant Dale and Gloria Godtel - Media Specialist.

Approved the Southeast Nebraska Distance Learning Contract.

Approved the interlocal agreement for utility services.

Approved the K-3 Spanish program.

Approved the lease agreement with the Milford Schools Foundation.

Entered executive session for the protection of the Public interest and prevention of needless injury to the reputation of an individual to discuss negotiations and personnel issue.

Returned to regular session.

Meeting adjourned.
