During a recent fund raising drive by the Milford Schools Foundation, an interesting letter was received from the estate executor of Donna J. (Stolz) Beaty, formerly of Alexandria, VA. Her daughter wrote a tribute of her mother that may be of special interest to the class of 1942. She writes that her mother took classes at night as a senior in high school and became the youngest certified teacher for Milford Public Schools. She had a contract with the local school board and taught in the small white school outside of Milford. The school is now gone, but was remembered as being just off the dirt road.
Donna married Joseph Beaty, who had been in the army and attended the Technical School in Milford. Donna fell in love with Joseph at George Phipps Diner here in Milford. Alvin and Susan Stolz were Donna’s parents. They lived directly across from the “old school.”
It was with pleasure that her donation for the Milford Schools Endowment Fund has been accepted.
